Invitation to view designs for the North & West Wings

Following the launch of the architectural competition for the North and West Wings, which will complete the second Quad at St Cross College, the St Cross Building Committee, advised by Malcom Reading Consultants and the Oxford University Estates Directory, shortlisted four practices to work on the project: Niall McLaughlin Architects; Pringle Richards Sharratt Architects; Walters and Cohen; Wilkinson Eyre Architects.

The brief states that the new extensions “should seem a natural companion and complement to the existing buildings, enhancing them, the garden and the surrounding townscape. In whole and in detail this should be a scheme which provides continuing satisfaction and unexpected moments of delight”.

Members of St Cross already had the opportunity to meet the architects on July 17th, when the four firms made presentations of their design projects; the College Community gave feedback and asked questions during morning sessions that ended with a finger buffet lunch.

We are now pleased to announce that the final four designs will be available to view on Tuesday 25th September. The four firms selected to work on the project are: Niall McLaughlin, Architects Pringle, Richards Sharratt Architects, Walters and Cohen and Wilkinson Eyre Architects.

A reception will be held in the St Cross Room to allow members the chance to view all four designs and offer their feedback.
